As Chief Security Officer at CPS Energy, one of the nation’s largest municipally owned power and gas providers, he provides executive oversight of cybersecurity, physical security, and business continuity while helping shape enterprise strategy, resiliency, risk, and critical infrastructure priorities. At CPS Energy, Jonathan has focused on transforming fragmented and reactive capabilities into integrated, intelligence-driven enterprise functions aligned to risk, mission priorities, and operational resiliency. His leadership approach emphasizes strategic vision, cross-functional integration, disciplined execution, and building high-performing teams capable of sustaining long-term organizational change. Prior to joining CPS Energy, Jonathan spent more than a decade supporting and leading national cybersecurity and critical infrastructure programs. Within the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, he ultimately led the United States government’s front-line tactical cyber incident response capability, overseeing hundreds of personnel and supporting national-scale investigations including SolarWinds. Earlier roles specialized in industrial control systems, incident response, digital telecommunications, and critical infrastructure. His career began as an entrepreneur, building and later exiting an IT and telecommunications services company before moving into consulting and government laboratories. Along the way, Jonathan was named CISA’s first “Cyber Ninja” and became one of the architects of the federal government’s Control Systems Interagency Working Group. Jonathan has served as a trusted subject matter expert to the National Security Council, provided private congressional briefings, served as a cyber liaison to Ukraine, and delivered more than 400 speaking engagements, briefings, and keynotes.
